The Empicentre® home theatre unit is a remote controlled computer incorporating a hard drive recorder, DVD player & recorder, CD player, video & photo viewer, MP3 jukebox, and digital set top box.
With provision for up to two digital tuners, it's possible to watch one channel whilst recording another, or recording two channels, whilst watching a DVD, listening to music or watching a previously recorded program. The built-in hard drive lets you watch a program from the beginning, even though it hasn't finished recording, and allows the pausing, rewinding & fast forwarding of live tv broadcasts.
The DVD/CD recorder & player allows recorded tv, music, videos or photos to be saved to disc, in the unlikely event the hard drive ever runs out of space. CD's can be saved to the hard drive and played back randomly, by album, by artist and uploaded to portable MP3 players. In most cases, when connected to the internet, information about the artist, album, songs & cover is automatically displayed.
The unit has display outputs for connecting to plasmas, projectors, LCD screens and normal televisions, and audio outputs for high end optical stereos, as well as standard RCA analogue devices.
The operating system is based on Windows XP Media Centre 2005 and consists of a large user interface for viewing from a distance.
